About Me

The Art of Fighting Club teaches personal growth and character development through the physical and mental practices of kickboxing. This sport cobines martial arts style kicks and boxing style punches to defeat an opponent.

Physical Advantages: The training improves and maintains cardiovascular fitness, endurance, strength, sharpens reflexes, muscle tone, coordination, balance and flexibility - consistently challenging the body (burning fat in the process!)

Spiritual Advantages: The training improves self esteem, confidence and self-discipline. It stimulates the mind and develops inner strength and is an excellent way to release (by shouting! punching and kicking out) stress

It is based upon the study of Kickboxing which started in the US during the 1970's when American karate practitioners became frustrated with strict controls on martial arts competitions that didn't allow full contact kicks and punches. Many questions were raised when the sport began about the high risk of injury. As a result, safety rules were improved and protective clothing was added. As this is a relatively new sport there are no long-term traditions. The sport has undergone changes and been refined during the last two decades. Competitors use sparring, kicks, punches, kick blocks and shadow boxing that is learned and applied under professional instruction. Sticking to the roots of this art form, students will quickly develop attributes such as focus, self discipline, respect, integrity, perseverance/dedication, motivation and much more.

The instructor, Sensei Simon Chetcuti, at The Art of Fighting Club is highly trained, motivated and extremely caring individual. He is a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Kickboxing. Simon has a wealth of knowledge to pass on to all who train with him. He puts a lot of emphasis on personal attention in all of the classes in order to draw out the very best in each student. Whether your goals are to: lose weight, tone muscles, increase cardio-vascular fitness, develop self-discipline, focus, motivation, raise self-esteem, confidence, develop stamina, alertness, learn self defese, enjoy the competitive aspect of the tournaments or just simply have fun, you will find this sport highly beneficial. The Art of fighting club highly emphasises warm up and cool down and on varying routines. This is yet another motivating factor that not all clubs provide.

Fitness is another major reason for training martial arts. If you are anything like me, you too sometimes get bored by the same old routine at the gym, and often lack the physical energy or motivation to make it there. Am I right?
